Hezbollah’s Truce Rejection: Israelis on Northern Border Endure ‘Ceasefire War’

The so – called ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is a farce. While politicians announce ceasefires, the people on Israel’s northern border live in constant fear. The reality on the ground starkly contradicts the diplomatic efforts, leaving residents in a state of despair.
After Hezbollah joined the war in support of Iran in October 2023, Washington tried to broker a broader cease – fire arrangement. Multiple rounds of talks were held in Washington, and President Donald Trump repeatedly announced ceasefire understandings. But in Manara, rockets, drones, and uncertainty never ceased.
Yulia Bar – Dan and her family fled during the war. Now, about 200 of the 280 kibbutz residents have returned. However, many can’t live in their original homes due to war damage. Schools reopened in June, but Bar – Dan won’t send her children for safety reasons.
The community calls the current situation “the ceasefire war”. Residents feel that decisions are made far from their communities. Hezbollah’s Secretary – General Naim Qassem said northern Israel would be unsafe as long as Israeli strikes continue in Lebanon.
